Ballet Nebraska caps off Season 4 with the award-winning show ‘Momentum,’ our annual mixed-repertory program including several short ballets and original contemporary works on May 2 (8pm at Joslyn) and May 4 (2pm at Arts Center). Ballet Nebraska Guild held its third annual holiday Nutcracker Tea Party on Sunday afternoon, December 1 at the festive Joslyn Castle. Nearly 200 guests — including Santa — enjoyed an enchanted afternoon filled with holiday treats and beautiful ballet dancers in a real castle right in the middle of Omaha. Oct. 4, 2013, Lincoln, NE — Ballet Nebraska company dancer, Erin Alarcon choreographed an original work performed by company trainee Chloe Watson at the beautiful Nebraska State Capitol Rotunda during the 7th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Commemoration. Nebraska’s First Lady, Sally Ganem, presented the proclamation signed by Governor Dave Heineman marking Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month. Alarcon’s father is Ecuadorean and Watson’s mother is Colombian, which lent an added layer of significance to the event for both artists.
After a summer of travel, classes, performances, teaching, guesting and vacations, Ballet Nebraska’s professional dancers are back in Omaha to work on the company’s fourth season, which started earlier than usual this year on Aug. 12.
